A political commentator recently stated that Jews must accept Jesus and become “perfected.” Shocking? Absolutely! But she was merely voicing what millions of evangelicals Christians around the world truly believe. Jews must be converted to Christianity and only then… will they become completed, saved and perfected.
Year after year, evangelical missionaries spend millions of dollars targeting Jews for conversion. And sorry to say, they do a good job. Key Jewish texts are deceptively mistranslated… Christianity is shrewdly disguised as Judaism… and now, they’ve devised a bold, new strategy.
Missionaries are mobilizing evangelical Christian youth… training them to target vulnerable Jewish high school and college students. This peer-to-peer proselytizing exploits all the latest technologies and it’s working. Why? Our unsuspecting Jewish students lack the decisive answers to withstand this relentless peer-pressure and sophisticated missionary propaganda.
Jews for Judaism’s international centers receive countless, urgent calls for help from Jewish students confused by trusted classmates actively trying to proselytize them… right on campus and the internet. A recent survey revealed that 68% of Jewish high school students and 82% of Jewish college students have been approached by a school friend or acquaintance with a missionary agenda.
In fact, one student, pulled from his dorm room to participate in a “human scavenger hunt,” was actually dragged to a Christian Bible Study. Several students reported that even teachers and coaches are out to get them.
We must combat this insidious missionary onslaught. We must provide our youth with powerful new resources to protect and empower them against their evangelical peers who attack them on their own turf.
The Los Angeles Jewish Community Foundation and Jewish Venture Philanthropy Fund have awarded Jews for Judaism seed money grants to initiate a cutting-edge, decisive response. Our multi-faceted initiatives include student liaisons, a high-tech student website, retreats, student prep-kits and other innovative programs to be introduced locally and replicated across the country.
